For employers

Hire student couriers per hour

You hire a student worker for the rounds, the sorting shift or the peak day you really need to cover. We handle the student employment contract, the Dimona declaration, payroll and insurance. That gives you the right couriers at the right moment, and you pay only for the hours worked.

Staff for your parcel operation in 2026

A delivery network runs in waves. Your volume peaks during a campaign at one large client, on a Monday morning after a busy weekend, and from mid-November in the weeks when everything lands at once. For those peaks, staffing that moves with your volume works better than extra fixed contracts.

We place student workers in the roles around the round: sorters in the depot, loaders who get the vans ready, co-drivers on dense routes, and deliverers with a category B licence where the job requirements allow it. You set the hours and the days, we take over the administration.

Looking for drivers for passenger transport, fleet management or moving vehicles? You can read more on our page about how to hire student drivers.

Why us

Why employers hire couriers through Recruit a Student

Available by the hour

You hire students for exactly the hours you need. When your volume scales up, the staffing scales with it.

Screened in advance

Our recruiters check skills, licence and motivation. You meet candidates who match the pace of your depot and your rounds.

Short lead times

Thanks to our pool, students can often start in the same week. Your rounds keep running while recruitment is under way.

Fully taken care of

Contracts, Dimona, payroll calculation, contributions and insurance run through us. You receive one invoice, and we handle the personnel administration.

Our services

Our services: couriers for your network

Sorting in the depot

Scanning parcels, assigning them to rounds, filling roll cages and setting aside exceptions. Work with a tight window, because the vans leave at a fixed time.

Loading and departure

Building the round, loading in the right order, checking labels and transport documents. This is the work that decides your driver's time on the road.

Co-driving on dense routes

A second person who steps out, rings the bell and hands over the parcel. On city rounds in Antwerp or Brussels you make more stops per hour with the same vehicle.

Delivering with a category B licence

Driving a van up to 3,500 kilos independently, or delivering by bicycle in the city centre. We check per assignment what a student is allowed and able to do.

  3. Match and fast deployment

Within a few days we propose flexible candidates, and thanks to our pool students can often start in the same week.

Our students are well prepared, you decide on the introduction, and we support you continuously with planning, replacement and scaling up.

Student work rules in Belgium in 2026

A student worker may work 650 hours per calendar year at the reduced solidarity contribution of 8.13 percent in total. Of that, you as the employer pay 5.42 percent and the student 2.71 percent, according to the NSSO. Above those 650 hours the ordinary social security contributions apply, and only to the hours above the limit.

For the driving part of the job, the licence decides. A van up to 3,500 kilos falls under category B. The code 95 professional competence applies from category C upwards, so above 3,500 kilos. For an ordinary van round, a category B licence is enough. Delivering by van is therefore work for students aged 18 or over, the minimum age for a category B licence.

Since 1 June 2026, a specific night work regime applies to the distribution sector and related activities, including logistics for third parties and electronic commerce. For employees who enter service from that date, only the hours between 23:00 and 06:00 count towards the night premium. Agency workers count as ordinary employees here. An example: on a sorting shift from 18:00 to 24:00, only the hour between 23:00 and 24:00 counts towards the night premium for a student who starts with you for the first time from 1 June 2026. We check case by case which regime applies to which student.

Your joint committee then sets the pay conditions. Joint subcommittee 140.03, for road transport and logistics on behalf of third parties, covers companies that transport goods by road for third parties and companies that carry out logistics activities exclusively for third parties. Whether your company falls under it depends on your activity, and we clarify that with you beforehand.

Hiring couriers for your company

Demand for labour in delivery is high and uneven. One client launching a campaign changes your Monday volume within two days, and a week later it is ordinary again. That is exactly the pattern student work was made for: you buy hours rather than months. Because we work with a fixed pool, you can rely on the same people at every peak.

Student work also gives you access to a different pool of people: those who are looking for flexible hours rather than a fixed schedule.

From a one-off assignment to a lasting partnership

Many clients start with a single peak period and then keep a fixed core. A one-off assignment grows into a fixed group of couriers who already know your rounds and your depot.

Pool management by Recruit a Student

With pool management we build a fixed group of students who know your network. They know how your scanners work, how a round is built and which rules apply to a failed delivery. That saves induction time at every scale-up, and it saves errors in the weeks when you can least afford them.

The pool stays available to you, and the students stay employed through us. You report a peak, we send the familiar faces. If someone drops out, we replace them from the same group. You start November with a team you already know, and your staffing becomes predictable, even when your volume varies. Read more about pool management.

Questions

Frequently asked questions about hiring couriers

You request a no-obligation quote or call us on +32 14 15 17 35. In an introductory conversation we go through your rounds, your shift times and the roles you want to fill. Our recruiters then select candidates from our pool and present them to you. The student employment contract, the Dimona declaration and payroll are ours to handle.

You pay a single hourly rate per hour worked, covering wages, social security contributions, payroll, insurance and support. The exact rate depends on the role, the shift times and the volume, so it goes into your quote.

We propose candidates within a few days and, thanks to our pool, students can often start in the same week. For an announced peak, such as the end-of-year period, plan a few weeks ahead so that we can reserve the staffing for you.

Yes. With a category B licence, a student may drive a van up to 3,500 kilos, and for that they are 18 or over. The code 95 professional competence applies from category C upwards, so for an ordinary van round a category B licence is enough. We check per assignment what a student is allowed and able to do.
