Student jobs at the weekend

Weekend student jobs in Belgium

A student job in Belgium that runs at the weekend fits around your timetable. You work Saturdays, Sundays or both, and you keep your weekdays for lectures and study. We arrange your contract, your Dimona declaration and your pay.

In short

On weekdays you are in class, at the weekend you get to work. You help customers by phone, chat or at reception, get cars ready for a mobility company or prepare holiday homes for new guests. You choose Saturday, Sunday or both, and you earn throughout the academic year. Starters are welcome. Signing up is free and takes one minute.

Why the weekend

Why weekend work suits students

Weekend work fits alongside your classes. You earn across the whole academic year, on top of the summer, and you spread your 650 hours over twelve months.

You also build experience with one employer, rather than through a string of holiday jobs. On your CV that shows you keep up work and study together.

Good to know

What do you earn at the weekend?

How much do you earn per hour at the weekend?

The hourly rate is always shown in each vacancy. What you earn exactly depends on your age and on the sector you work in, because every sector sets its own wage scales through its joint committee. Through us, you get the same pay and working conditions as comparable employees at the company where you work.

Which premium goes with Sunday work?

If you work on Sundays or in the evening, the collective agreement of the company’s joint committee sets the premium. That premium therefore differs by sector.

How many hours can you work while keeping the benefit?

Since the Act of 10 April 2025 you may work 650 hours per calendar year on a student employment contract, and that quota is permanent, according to the NSSO. On those hours you and your employer together pay a solidarity contribution of 8.13%, of which 2.71% is yours. Your counter is on Student@work.

From what age may you work at the weekend?

Since the Royal Decree of 19 April 2026, published in the Belgian Official Gazette on 4 May 2026, you may work as a student worker from the age of 15 on light, non-industrial tasks.
