For employers

Student job Belgium: hire IT support by the hour

It is early November and the January planning is set: two hundred devices to replace, the January starters to equip and the ticket wave of the first working week to absorb. Your permanent IT crew cannot take that on without putting current projects on hold. A student job in Belgium is the practical way to cover exactly those weeks: you get screened students from an ICT programme and no extra personnel administration.

  • Students from an ICT programme
  • Contracts, Dimona and payroll handled
  • Offices in Antwerp and Brussels
  • Licensed staffing agency

Strengthening your IT team without fixed contracts

An IT department runs on projects and on tickets at the same time, and the two compete for the same people. We deploy student workers on the tasks that cost your experienced technicians time without requiring their expertise: taking and closing first line tickets, managing accounts and passwords, preparing and rolling out laptops and phones, guiding users through a migration, and keeping the inventory of devices and licences up to date. You decide the days, the hours and the number of hands. The student employment contract, the Dimona declaration, payroll and the occupational accident insurance all run through us, with one point of contact and one invoice.

Why us

Why companies choose IT support through Recruit a Student

Hired by the hour

You hire the hours you actually need to cover: the rollout week in January, the days after a migration, the Tuesday your service desk is on its own. No fixed contract for work that comes in waves.

Screened in advance

Our recruiters test technical basics, patience on the phone and the care taken in closing a ticket. Anyone who does not move your users forward does not sit at your service desk.

Short lead times

We work with a standing pool of students from computer science and ICT programmes, so you do not need to publish a vacancy. We often propose candidates within a few days who can start the same week.

Fully taken care of

Contracts, Dimona, time registration, payroll calculation, contributions and insurance are ours to handle. Your IT manager keeps time for the projects that do belong to the team.

Our services

Our services: IT support for your organisation

Service desk and first line tickets

Receiving, qualifying and resolving reports according to your scripts, and passing on what genuinely belongs in the second line. The student works in your ticketing system, which we go through with them beforehand.

Device preparation and rollout

Unpacking, imaging, labelling and handing out laptops, screens, phones and peripherals, and collecting the old devices. Exactly the work that a rollout week leaves no room to combine with anything else.

Support during a migration

Helping users at their desk when they move to new software, a new environment or another site. Half a day of answering questions on the floor saves your second line dozens of tickets.

Inventory, licences and documentation

Recording and tracking devices and licences, managing cables and spare parts, and keeping manuals and knowledge articles current. This is the role most of our ICT students start with.

How it works

How does hiring IT support work?

  1. Request

During an introductory meeting we discuss your situation, map out the need and advise a suitable, flexible deployment of students.

  2. Selection and matching

Our recruiters screen thoroughly on skills and motivation and select suitable students from our pool.

  3. Match and fast deployment

Within a few days we propose flexible candidates and, thanks to our pool, students can often start the same week.

  4. Continuous support

Our students are well prepared, you decide on the introduction and we support you continuously with planning, replacement and scaling up.

Rules for student work in IT in 2026

A student worker may work 650 hours per calendar year at the reduced solidarity contribution. Your share is 5,42 per cent. The counter runs per calendar year, which is the point to watch for an IT project around the turn of the year: a rollout that starts in December and finishes in January uses hours from two different contingents.

The Dimona declaration follows the same logic. You file one declaration per quarter per student, stating the hours you plan for that quarter, and it has to be in place no later than the day the work starts. A project running from mid December to the end of January therefore needs two declarations. If one of them is late, all planned hours for that quarter count as work outside the contingent and the ordinary contributions are due. A late declaration cannot be corrected afterwards. Adjusting the planned hours is possible: until the last day of the month following the declaration quarter.

Finally the workstation itself. The Code on well-being at work requires a risk analysis before a young worker’s first working day, renewed at least once a year and repeated at every significant change to the workstation. In practice: if your student moves from the service desk to a rollout in the server room, with cabinets, cabling and heavy boxes, that counts as such a change. We record both workstations in the workstation sheet in advance, so your team lead does not have to work it out on the spot.

IT support for your internal IT department

Technical profiles remain hard to find. Support medewerker ICT appears on the VDAB list of bottleneck occupations for 2026, as do systeembeheerder and netwerkbeheerder. For your first line work you do not have to fight that shortage: a student from an ICT programme picks up tickets, devices and user questions, and your permanent technicians keep their hands free for the infrastructure and the projects that genuinely need their experience.

Students fit here better than their reputation suggests. They grew up with these devices, explain things without being condescending, and are available at the moments when a rollout happens to fall. We also work with familiar faces: the same group of students, who know your ticketing system and your image, so your IT manager does not have to train from scratch at every peak.

From one off assignment to lasting cooperation

If you want to take a student on permanently after the assignment, that is possible at no cost. We charge no transfer fee. Many clients start with a rollout week and then find they would rather deploy the same students structurally, for example two fixed days a week alongside their studies. That is your talent pipeline for a bottleneck role: someone who already knows your environment is ready to work from the day they graduate.

Pool management by Recruit a Student

A service desk runs on knowledge of your environment. A student who knows your ticketing system knows which report goes straight to the second line and which one to close personally, and that saves your IT manager checks. With pool management we therefore build a stable group of students around your department, instead of sending someone new at every peak.

That pool is also your buffer. If someone drops out during the rollout week, you do not have to ring around: we replace from the same group, with someone who already knows your image, your ticketing system and your house rules. We track availability, monitor the hour contingent per student and plan ahead around exam periods, so that the exam month does not leave a gap in your staffing just as the first working week of January begins. Your rate

One transparent hourly rate, no hidden costs

You pay one hourly rate per hour worked. It covers the student’s pay, the employer contributions, the insurance, the payroll handling and our support. No recruitment fees up front, no transfer fee afterwards, no invoices for hours that were not worked.

Because the rate follows the scale of your joint committee and the days you want to cover, we calculate it per situation. You get that figure in the quote.

National coverage with local expertise

We place student workers throughout Belgium. From Antwerp we serve companies in the city, the Kempen region and as far as Zeeland; from Brussels the offices in the outskirts, around the ring and towards Zaventem. In Ghent we work with a student pool, so a service desk there can be staffed without you having to recruit yourself. Your request always reaches an account manager from your own region, not a general number.

Questions

Frequently asked questions about IT support

You submit a request through the quote form or call +32 14 15 17 35. We discuss the tasks, the number of days and your ticketing system, and then propose candidates from our pool.

You pay one hourly rate per hour worked. That rate consists of the pay according to the scale of your joint committee, the employer contributions, the occupational accident insurance, the payroll handling and our support. No recruitment fees or transfer fees are added.

Thanks to our pool we often propose candidates within a few days, and a student can in many cases start the same week. For a planned rollout, allow a little more lead time so the same crew covers the whole project.

Yes, and we charge no transfer fee for it. If the cooperation works well, you simply take the student on. For a bottleneck role such as ICT support, that is often the fastest route to a permanent colleague.

That is your call. The student works within the rights your IT lead grants, following your own procedures for accounts and access. We go through your confidentiality rules with the student beforehand and record them in the workstation sheet.

Yes, evening and weekend work is often the most attractive shift for a student, within the working time rules that apply in your sector. We plan the shift with you and keep track of the hour contingent per student.

Then it uses hours from two contingents and needs two Dimona declarations, as set out in the rules above. We file those declarations, track the balance per student and flag it when a student approaches the contingent.
